Deputies passed the lawdraft "On Amendments to Laws on Railway Transport" in its second reading

The draft document was presented by First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Grigory Glazko:
"A wide range of experts were involved in the reviewing of the lawdraft, and a large number of proposals were considered. Importantly, we found agreed-upon approaches that satisfied all stakeholders. This version of the lawdraft will serve as the legislative basis for the further development of the railway industry."
In particular, the lawdraft provides for the following innovations:
- transfer of functions of militarized security of State Enterprise "Belarusian Railway" to the Security Services Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs;
- assignment of the Government's powers to establish cases and procedures for closing low-volume railway sections, as well as resuming traffic on them;
- providing assistance to people with limited mobility at railway stations;
- delineation of the competencies of the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the implementation of state control in railway transport;
- expanding the circle of people undergoing medical examinations, certification, and technical training;
- clarification of the conditions for granting the right to drive railway vehicles, etc.
