The governments of Belarus and Sri Lanka signed an air traffic agreement

The agreement was signed in Minsk. The document was signed by Belarusian Minister of Transport and Communications Alexei Lyakhnovich and Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Vijith Herath.

Alexei Lyakhnovich:
"We reviewed how our charter program to Sri Lanka performed. This was a long-awaited program for Belarusian citizens. Flight occupancy rates were over 87%. Our airline is committed to launching scheduled flights after the agreement is signed and ratified."

Vijit Herath emphasized that many Sri Lankan students study in Belarus, and the goal is to increase their number. He expressed confidence that establishing direct flights between Belarus and Sri Lanka will facilitate this process. Furthermore, Belarusians will be able to visit Sri Lanka as tourists, so the establishment of a direct flight will benefit both countries.
