The ceremony took place as part of a historical and patriotic motor rally in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the route of which passes through our countries. First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus Grigory Glazko and Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Konstantin Pashkov participated in the flower-laying ceremony.
"The immortal feat of transport and road engineers will forever be in our hearts," said Grigory Glazko in his speech at Victory Square. "The patriotic motor rally 'Road of Life. Road of Courage. Road of Victory,' organized at the initiative of our Russian colleagues, is a worthy contribution to preserving the memory of the transport workers who labored during the harsh war years and, after liberation, restored the country's road infrastructure," noted the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus.
Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Transport, the Federal Road Agency Rosavtodor, and the Russian State Road Agency Avtodor organized and participated in the large-scale motor rally "Road of Life. Road of Courage. Road of Victory."
The event began in St. Petersburg and is held in memory of the heroic deeds of road engineers who participated in the Great Patriotic War. The next stops on the route included sites of military glory in Leningrad, Novgorod, Tver, and Smolensk regions.
The motor rally in Belarus is coming to an end. Participants visited Minsk today and will then travel to Brest for a memorial service, which will take place at 4 a.m. on June 22 at Brest Fortress.
