A delegation from Belarusian Ministry of Transport took part in a meeting of the Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation of Belarusian-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee, which took place this week in Beijing.

The parties discussed plans for joint work in the near future. The agenda included expanding trade and investment cooperation, developing transport and logistics collaboration, and promoting China-Belarus Industrial Park "Great Stone."

As announced, in 2024 the volume of rail transport on China-Belarus-China route amounted to more than 500 thousand containers in TEU (or 144% of the 2003 level).

Furthermore, during the Ministry of Transport delegation's visit to Beijing, a meeting was held between the heads of the transport departments of Belarus and China, where they discussed key areas for developing cooperation in the field of transport. Belarusian side was led by Minister of Transport and Communications Alexei Lyakhnovich, and Chinese side was led by Minister of Transport Liu Wei.

Belarus and China currently actively cooperate in road, rail, and air transport. As Alexey Lyakhnovich noted, developing cooperation in transport serves as a reliable foundation for further increasing trade between the countries. Specifically, the implementation of the strategic partnership strategy for the near future includes steps to strengthen transport and logistics ties, expedite the processing of transported goods, and develop the potential for transit through Belarus.

The head of Belarusian Ministry of Transport emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in road transport, which plays a significant role in the transportation of foreign trade goods.

In turn, Chinese Minister of Transport Liu Wei assured that Chinese side fully supports the desire for the dynamic development of bilateral relations and is ready to strengthen contacts with Belarusian Ministry of Transport to further develop road transport between China and Belarus.
