What results did the aviation industry of Belarus end 2024 with? The main points from the speech of the Director of the Department of Aviation Igor Golub:
Passenger turnover amounted to 108.5% of the 2023 level, the volume of passengers transported was 113.5%. The number of passengers served at the republic's airports was 116.9% compared to 2023.
Belavia Airlines operated regular flights from Minsk, Brest and Gomel to 23 airports in 11 countries. Flights to and from Minsk National Airport were regularly operated by 12 air carriers.
As part of the investment project, a complex for painting and technical maintenance of aircraft was put into operation at Minsk Civil Aviation Plant No. 407.
“In 2024, aviation security at civil aviation facilities in the country will be fully ensured,” the Director of the Aviation Department informed.
Speaking about the challenges facing air transport this year, Igor Golub noted: "In 2025, ensuring flight safety and aviation security remains a priority. The main efforts will also be aimed at expanding the air transportation market, developing the route network, and improving the quality of service for passengers and cargo."
In addition, the plans include the development of regular and charter air traffic from the republic’s airports, attracting investments to replenish the aircraft fleet, and upgrading airfield and air navigation infrastructure facilities.
"Belarus has implemented a wide range of international initiatives in civil aviation," said the head of the aviation administration of Belarus. In total, 50 air traffic agreements have been concluded with foreign countries.
In 2024, agreements were signed with Saudi Arabia and the Seychelles, and negotiations were held on developing cooperation with the aviation authorities of Russia, Kazakhstan, the UAE, China, Oman, Jordan, Vietnam, Venezuela, Iran, Zimbabwe, Morocco, and Kuwait.
Agreements with Venezuela and Kenya are at a high level of readiness for signing. Domestic procedures are underway to approve the draft air traffic agreement with Jordan.
