To China in 6 hours: Belavia opens new route Minsk-Urumqi

Monday, 16 December 2024

CEO of airline “Belavia” Igor Cherginets spoke about the advantages of the new regular flight from Minsk: "The first flight showed interest from passengers - not only Belarusians, but also citizens of China and Russia. The load is not bad: they intend to transport 135 passengers from Minsk to Urumqi, and 107 back. There will also be cargo from Urumqi on board - more than a ton of spare parts for motor vehicles."

The region's appeal is linked to transit. Urumqi is a promising international transport hub for China. The city is located at the intersection of important routes, including the Initiative “One Belt – One Road”, making it a key transport hub between China, Central Asia, Russia and Europe.

For Belarus, China is one of the strategic partners: trade turnover is growing, joint educational programs are opening, personnel are being exchanged, and tourism is developing.

Igor Cherginets is confident that Minsk-Urumqi-Minsk route will be the starting point in the air carrier's flight program to China. Other destinations are also being worked out: "We are not announcing them yet, but I think it will be very interesting."
