During a meeting with Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoit, Alexey Lyakhnovich thanked his Russian colleagues for their cooperation and comprehensive support.

As the head of the Ministry of Transport of Belarus noted, the transportation of Belarusian exports in the direction of the ports of the North-West of Russia is developing dynamically. The plans for 2025 are even more ambitious. An agreement has been reached with the Russian side to increase the volume of transportation of goods of domestic enterprises compared to the current year.

Alexey Lyakhnovich said: “The high level of Belarusian-Russian relations in the year of the 25th anniversary of the Union State once again demonstrates the desire of our countries to promptly and constructively resolve any issues.”

"Expanding cooperation in the development of the transport complex is one of the strategic areas of work of the governments of Russia and the Republic of Belarus. This year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State. As the heads of our states Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko note, effective joint work helps our states successfully coordinate their work, develop dynamically and achieve significant economic results," said Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev.

In 2024, the Union State's transport complex achieved significant success. The indicators exceeded the results of the previous year. The priority remains to provide transport services to the population, including those living in the border regions of the two countries.

The result of the joint work of railway employers was the resumption of communication between  Vitebsk and Smolensk regions, as well as Vitebsk and Pskov regions. Since November 1, an additional Lastochka train has been launched on Moscow-Minsk route. Air transport has connected Minsk with Samara, Ulyanovsk, Chelyabinsk and Makhachkala, Brest with Moscow, Gomel with St. Petersburg.
