The meeting was held at the Representative Office of the Standing Committee of the Union State in pursuance of the instructions of the President of Belarus to promptly resolve pressing issues of citizens of the Union State.
The issues of increasing the quality of service for Belarusian Railway passengers, improving the system of railway passenger transportation on Minsk-Moscow, Minsk-Smolensk and, in the future, Minsk-Pskov routes were discussed.
"In response to the appeal of the Permanent Committee of the Union State, the number of reserved seat cars in Minsk-Moscow branded train has been further increased since August 12. In addition, the issue of putting another pair of Lastochka trains on the route on weekends and holidays will be resolved with the management of Russian Railways in the near future," Dmitry Mezentsev noted following the meeting.
He emphasized that the management of the transport complex of Belarus will consider the proposal to form special tourist trains with the possibility of involving in such work the heads of tourist complexes of the regions of Belarus and subjects of the Russian Federation, primarily border territories. Particular attention was paid to the formation of "New Year's trains" for families with children, where passengers will be offered a special holiday program.
Alexey Lyakhnovich reported that Belarusian Railways will also consider a proposal to launch a bonus program for passengers on international routes.
In addition, during the meeting, the issue of improving transport links in the area of Krasnaya Gorka checkpoint was discussed in detail. According to the head of the Ministry of Transport of Belarus, a new draft resolution of the High-Level Group of the Council of Ministers of the Union State was agreed upon, providing for the construction of an additional traffic lane of up to two kilometers on the M1 highway on Belarusian side, which will significantly improve the freight traffic flow pattern and, above all, vehicles transporting perishable goods when it is put into operation in 2025.
Dmitry Mezentsev emphasized that ensuring equal rights for citizens of Belarus and Russia - in accordance with the provisions of the Union Treaty - is significant and is always in the attention of the national leaders of Belarus and Russia, Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin. In this regard, he noted that the decisions and instructions of the Supreme State Council of the Union State are mandatory for republican and federal ministries and establishments.
