The opening ceremony of the forum was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Sivak, Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus Alexey Lyakhnovich, Member of the Board (Minister) for Energy and Infrastructure of the EEC Arzybek Kozhoshev, State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Dmitry Zverev, Deputy Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Satzhan Ablaliyev, Deputy Minister of Transport and Digital Development of Azerbaijan Javid Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilkhomjon Abdugafarov.
At the opening of Belarusian Transport Week 2024, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Sivak stated that the development of the transport sector is aimed at increasing the economic potential of Belarus:
"The government pays considerable attention to the issues of improving the legal framework for transport and logistics activities. The country is developing the logistics industry, roads are being built, rolling stock is being updated. The range of electric transport for passenger and cargo transportation is expanding, and logistics centers are being built."
According to Anatoly Sivak, the events of the international forum "Belarusian Transport Week" make a significant contribution to the development of cooperation between Belarus and other countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of interaction with partners on the Eurasian continent: “With our country’s entry into Shanghai Cooperation Organization, this interaction has acquired a more significant impetus.”
The specialized exhibition “Transport and Logistics” is being held within the framework of the forum.
The key events of the business program were the plenary meeting “Transport and Logistics of Eurasia: New Opportunities” and the plenary meeting of the 14th session of the sectoral councils of the Coordinating Transport Conference of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS CTC) with the participation of representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Standing Committee of the Union State.
“The CIS countries need to move towards creating a single market for transport services,” said the Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus, Alexei Lyakhnovich, at a plenary meeting of the CIS CTC.
Alexey Lyakhnovich noted that the creation of a single market for transport services is the most pressing task: “We have come to an understanding with many countries regarding the liberalization of international transportation and the transition to a permit-free system, and have found common ground in civil aviation and other types of transport.”
"The globalization of the world economy poses new challenges for states to develop and improve the sustainable transport system. It is becoming increasingly difficult to effectively solve them based on existing technologies and communications. It is very important that there is a platform such as the CIS CTS Council, which over the years of its operation has become a place for effective interaction in transport, where one can exchange invaluable experience, discuss the most pressing issues on the transport agenda and find the right solutions to the challenges facing the transport industry," the minister emphasized.
At the meeting of the 14th session of the sectoral councils of the CIS CTC, a cooperation agreement was signed between the CIS CTC and the state enterprise "BTLC" of Belarusian Railway.
At the plenary meeting "Transport and logistics of Eurasia: new opportunities" Alexey Lyakhnovich said that a new transport and logistics frame for the transportation of Belarusian export cargo has been formed. This became possible due to close cooperation between Belarus and partner countries - Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan.
Key points of Alexey Lyakhnovich's speech:
The volume of Belarusian products exported through Russian port infrastructure for the first 8 months of 2024 amounted to 110% of the same period last year. Currently, 14 Russian ports are involved in transshipment.
Belarusian cargo is exported by rail to more than 90 countries worldwide. In 2024, the geography of deliveries expanded to include such countries as Senegal, Peru, Mali, Uruguay, Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Benin, Tunisia, Algeria, etc.
Belarus continues to build logistics using the infrastructure of the North-South ITC.
The necessary conditions are being created to increase the volume of export deliveries of products from domestic enterprises in containers to the Chinese market.
In April 2024, Belarus joined Russia-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan ITC.
Our country is interested in further developing the initiative to create a common transport space within the CIS, EAEU and SCO.
