The document aims to improve the legal regulation of transport and road-related activities, as well as to harmonize national legislation with the country's international obligations within the EAEU framework.
The decree updates legislative provisions regarding the operation of the Ministry of Transport and Communications' intelligent transport system.
The requirements for permissible masses, axle loads and dimensions of vehicles are brought into compliance with EAEU standards. The maximum permissible total weight for certain categories of buses and trucks has been unified and increased. When a vehicle for international transport travels along roads included in Eurasian transport corridors, the values of permissible total weight and axle loads established by national legislation will be applied, but based on the actual technical feasibility of passing through specific sections of roads.
Control and supervisory activities in the transport sector are being improved. Following the annihilation of Belarusian River Navigation Inspectorate, regulatory functions regarding the safety of inland water transport and navigation are being assigned to the Transport Inspectorate of the Ministry of Transport.
