The concept for connecting the main transport arteries passing through the territories of the CIS countries has been approved

The document was adopted in Ashgabat at a meeting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Council. It defines the goals and trends for the development of the CIS transport system and aims to create an integrated transport system that ensures fast, safe, and cost-effective transportation based on modern infrastructure, advanced logistics, and multimodal routes.
The concept will create conditions for increasing the competitiveness of transport arteries passing through the territories of the Commonwealth states, their attractiveness for international shippers and investors, attracting freight flows, and realizing their transport and transit potential.
In modern conditions, the transport arteries of the CIS countries perform a strategic function, facilitating the integration of national transport systems into global logistics networks and ensuring the transit of goods and passengers between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Their successful integration and modernization also have economic significance, influencing trade growth, reducing transportation costs, and developing new logistics opportunities for the region's countries. At the same time, demands for speed, reliability, and efficiency in transportation are increasing, necessitating the constant modernization of infrastructure and the introduction of advanced technologies, the CIS Executive Committee noted.
