The formation of a single seamless transport space for the Union State was discussed yesterday at a meeting of the High-Level Group of the Council of Ministers of the Union State

In April of this year, Belarus and Russia implemented a cross-border commuter passenger service project between Smolensk and Vitebsk regions. Trains currently operate between the cities of Smolensk, Vitebsk, and Orsha.
At the High-Level Group meeting in Pskov, the Russian side proposed opening similar routes between Velikiye Luki and Polotsk, Vitebsk, as well as Bryansk and Gomel.
As First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus Grigory Glazko noted in his speech, the Ministry of Transport of Belarus supports this initiative. At the same time, it proposes taking the necessary measures to increase passenger traffic, the frequency and speed of travel, and additional stops on existing cross-border routes, with the aim of then extending this experience to new routes.
