CIS railway administrations summed up the results of 2025 and discussed plans for the development of transport corridors

A meeting of the Commonwealth Railway Transport Council was held in Turkmenistan. The event was attended by heads of railways from the CIS, as well as Georgia, Latvia, Estonia, and Iran. The Belarusian delegation was led by the head of the Belarusian Railway, Valery Verenich.

The results of work for 2025 were summarized, issues of operational work, optimization of the transportation process and repair of rolling stock were considered.

The regulations for passenger trains in international traffic and trains of border suburban and regional traffic have been approved for 2026/2027, including cross-border traffic within the Union State, as well as lists of trailer and direct carriages.

Also approved the following:

  • Regulations on the Commission on Railway Transport Infrastructure Issues
  • Plan of joint activities of railway administrations in ​​personnel, social work, and humanitarian cooperation for 2026
  • a draft Concept for the Development of International Transport Corridors within the Council, which will be submitted to the CIS Executive Committee.
