A meeting of the High-Level Group of the Council of Ministers of the Union State was held. First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Grigory Glazko participated in the event.
Head of the Presidential Administration Dmitry Krutoy:
"We plan to further expand air service between our countries, including between regional cities in Belarus and regions of Russia. We hope to soon launch new flights from Minsk to Krasnodar, Vladikavkaz, Volgograd, Omsk, Tyumen, and Rostov-on-Don."
The transport agencies of the two countries have prepared a draft memorandum of cooperation for the construction of Moscow-Minsk high-speed railway.
"I am confident that this project will be comparable in importance to the construction of Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant in Ostrovets," noted Dmitry Krutoy.
The key area of cooperation in the transport sector remains the transportation of Belarusian export cargo through Russian ports. Over the first 10 months, export volumes by rail alone increased by 3.7% (to 13.5 million tons). By the end of the year, this figure is expected to reach 16 million tons.
"This is a shining example of our joint, successful work to replace the corresponding infrastructure of Western countries and respond to the sanctions imposed on transit and logistics," said Dmitry Krutoy.
