The bill on railway transport was adopted by deputies in the first reading

The document is aimed at improving public relations in railway transport.
The draft law was presented by Minister of Transport and Communications Alexey Lyakhnovich and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives on Industry, Energy, Transport, Communications, and Digital Development Yuri Panfilov.
The main innovations of the document:
- The functions of the paramilitary security of Belarusian Railways are transferred to the Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
- The Government's powers to establish procedures for closing low-intensity railway lines (sections), as well as resuming traffic on them, are consolidated.
- The definition of terms for types of passenger communications (urban, regional and interregional lines) is being clarified.
- The competence of the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the implementation of state control (supervision) in railway transport is delineated.
- The circle of people undergoing medical examinations, assessments, and technical training is expanding.
- The conditions for granting the right to drive railway vehicles are being clarified.
The project contains a number of provisions aimed at ensuring the safety of infrastructure facilities and railway vehicles.
