The CIS logistics and reboot. The Commonwealth Economic Council met in Moscow

Friday, 05 December 2025

Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Natalia Petkevich commented on the results:

"Of course, the main issues that interest us are improving logistics. In fact, all of our colleagues discussed this today. After all, the CIS territory accounts for 16% of the world's territory, so connecting all logistics routes via various modes of transport is crucial. This isn't just a transport route; it's about improving infrastructure, overcoming barriers, and digitalization. This is a complex of areas that will improve logistics in the CIS."

The Deputy Prime Minister named the fact that the Commonwealth has begun to work on an international track as one of the CIS's important achievements.

The meeting discussed a draft concept for linking major transport arteries across the CIS countries. Its main goal is to create an integrated transport system that will ensure the safe, fast, and efficient movement of goods between countries, reduce transportation costs, and enhance competitiveness.

Members of the CIS Economic Council were also briefed on the activities of the Commonwealth Railway Transport Council in 2020 – the first half of 2025.

The council's efforts are aimed at preparing coordinated proposals on priority areas for the development of rail transport, maintaining the technological unity of the railway network, ensuring the coordinated development of railway infrastructure, organizing the joint use of freight cars and containers, developing a common information space, and implementing a coordinated tariff policy in international traffic.
