The Ministry of Taxes and Duties explained the nuances of using payment terminals.

The legislation (Resolution No. 924/16 of the Council of Ministers and the National Bank of Belarus dated July 6, 2011, "On the Use of Cash Registers and Other Equipment for Accepting Payments") defines the concepts of a card payment terminal and a payment terminal. The obligation to use them applies to legal entities and individual entrepreneurs providing regular urban passenger transportation services on category M2 buses (route taxi).

A card payment terminal is a device that accepts payments exclusively using bank cards. A payment terminal is a broader concept that encompasses the ability to accept payments not only using cards but also using any other payment instruments (such as QR codes).

"Therefore, the use of one (or more) payment services, such as E-POS, “Oplati”, SmartPay, or Cashew, is considered the use of a payment terminal. To connect, a business entity must enter into an agreement with the owner of the electronic payment service they choose," the Ministry of Taxes and Duties informed.

If a card payment terminal has not been purchased, any convenient electronic payment service that allows cashless payments can be used to comply with legal requirements, the Ministry of Taxes and Duties reported.
