Belarusian Minister of Transport and Communications Alexei Lyakhnovich made this statement on the sidelines of the Eurasian Economic Forum during the panel session "Sustainable Transport in the Eurasian Region: Mobility, Multimodality, and Digitalization."
Alexey Lyakhnovich called for a more rapid pace of action on this issue: "In my opinion, we lack breakthrough solutions in road transportation that would make us successfully overcome the shift in goods and raw material flows within our economic space from western to southern and eastern directions. I believe that liberalization and harmonization of this area will be one such step that will enable dynamic development in the Union's road transport sector."
Digitalization remains a priority for the development of the transport sector, said Alexey Lyakhnovich. According to the head of Belarusian Ministry of Transport, special attention is being paid to the digitalization of transportation and the development of intelligent transport systems: "Machine vision and artificial intelligence technologies are being actively implemented to ensure road safety and promptly respond to changing traffic conditions. A Traffic Monitoring Center has been established in Belarus for these purposes."
The possibility of full electronic documentary support of freight rail transportation has also been ensured, starting from the acceptance of an application for the transportation of goods to the registration of their issuance.
At the same time, in road transportation, it is necessary to move more actively towards the implementation of the international consignment note in electronic form, noted Alexey Lyakhnovich.
