Tuesday, 18 March 2025

The first meeting of railway executives from the Eurasian Economic Union member states was held in Moscow. Representatives from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia participated in the event.

The meeting summarized the work performed in 2024, identified prospects for further cooperation between the railways of the EAEU countries, and discussed joint logistics projects, including the development of transportation along international transport corridors and the use of digital technologies. Participants approved a number of documents regulating the conduct of such events in a new format, as well as a work plan for 2025–2026.

Following the meeting, the heads of the railways adopted a joint Declaration, which reflected the parties' proposals for the development of rail transport.

"We see potential for growth in freight transport volumes with each railway in the EAEU countries, as well as along the North-South and East-West International Transport Corridors, and within the framework of the One Belt, One Road initiative," noted Valery Verenich, head of Belarusian Railways, confirming his readiness to cooperate on all issues.
