The Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak and the First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Grigory Glazko took part in the work of the Technical and Economic Council of Belarusian Railway (TEC BR).
The main points of the speech by the head of Belarusian Railways Valery Verenich:
In 2024, reliable operation of rail transport aimed at high-quality transport services for the economy was ensured. Cargo handling amounted to 74.6 million tons (an increase of 2.7%, including 6.8% in intra-republican traffic). Cargo transportation volume – 100.3 million tons.
Work was underway to expand the segment of container cargo transportation. The total number of containers transported along the Belarusian highway exceeded 1.6 million.
In 2024, almost 62 million passengers were transported. All international train routes have been retained in the 2025 schedule. Information services continue to develop in the passenger transportation sector. 11.7 million electronic tickets for trains with numbered seats were sold via the Internet and mobile application (8.2% higher than the 2023 level).
This year should be the year of transformation of the freight business block of the highway in order to increase the volume of loading, containerization, development of new routes and services for customers. Work will continue on modernization of infrastructure and renewal of the fleet of freight and passenger cars, as well as traction rolling stock. Particular attention will be paid to the rational use of financial resources and strict observance of labor and technological discipline.
Speaking at the TES BR, the Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak set the task for the road staff to increase the economic efficiency of the road's operations, and to develop new approaches to the development of freight and passenger transportation.
