A festive rally dedicated to the commissioning of a shunting diesel locomotive manufactured in the Russian Federation was held at Gomel railroad station

Saturday, 12 October 2024

The event was attended by the head of Belarusian Railway Valery Verenich and the sales director of  Bryansk Machine-Building Plant Management Company (RF) Sergey Lobanov.

Valery Verenich noted that the renewal of rolling stock is one of the priority areas for the development of Belarusian railway transport. Every year, Belarusian distributor transports more than one hundred million tons of cargo, meeting the needs of the country's economy:

"The new generation shunting diesel locomotives TEM18DM made by Bryansk Machine-Building Plant are intended to replace the shunting diesel locomotives ChME3. This locomotive is more economical and environmentally friendly, adapted to the existing conditions of servicing and repairing locomotives on  Belarusian Railway. Its advantage is that almost 100% of components are Russian-made."

Within the framework of the State Program "Transport Complex" for 2021-2025, in 2025 it is planned to purchase 10 freight mainline diesel locomotives, 15 shunting diesel locomotives, 10 units of multiple unit rolling stock (diesel trains, electric trains).

From Gomel railroad station, a shunting locomotive with products from Belarusian enterprises departed to form a freight train destined for the Russian Federation.
