The delegation of Belarusian transport department was headed by the Minister of Transport and Communications Alexey Lyakhnovich, and the delegation from Astrakhan was headed by the governor of this Russian region Igor Babushkin.

The theme of the XI Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia is “The Role of Interregional Cooperation in Building an Innovative Economy of the Union State”.

As Natalia Kochanova noted at the plenary session, the Forum of Regions has become one of the symbols of the Union State. According to her, union integration has entered a new stage of development:

"In recent years, Belarus and Russia have implemented a number of strategically important decisions, thanks to which they have achieved breakthrough successes. The readiness of our countries to interact even more intensively is evidenced by the Main Directions for the Implementation of the Provisions of the Treaty on the Establishment of the Union State until 2026, which emphasizes the joint development of industries in the real sector of the economy. This means that the coming years will be breakthrough in a number of areas, such as machine tool building, mechanical engineering, and aircraft manufacturing."

The Forum of Regions was held in three Belarusian cities at once: Vitebsk, Polotsk, Novopolotsk. Nine sections in various areas worked on its sidelines.

The event is arranged by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
